Big City? or Small Town?

Intermed 1 R/W

Sometimes we are discussing about which is good to live in a big city or a small town. These have advantages and disadvantages.  First, if you live in a big city, you can get almost things in neighborhood. On the other hand, if you live in a small town, you have to go other city. A big city is more convenient, but Internet shopping is getting easier and speedier, so I think that there are no big differences recently. You can get many kinds of things the same as a big city. Next, usually a big city has convenient public transportation. For example, trains, buses, and subways. But usually a small town doesn’t have so many transportation like a big city’s. Third, I think the people who live in a big city are a little unfriendly. They are quite busy, and sometimes some of them are uncommunicative. In contrast, usually the people who live in a small town are kind. Fourth, a big city is quite noisy all the time because of a lot of cars, peoples, trains, etc. Even at night. However, a small town is quiet. It’s very good for peace of mind. Finally, a big city’s traffic is not only convenient but also inconvenient. Sometimes a big city has a very heavy traffic jam. But if you live in small town, you don’t need to worry about it. You can drive smoothly. All in all, I think that a big city is so convenient and there is a lot of fun, but I prefer to live in a small town because I love my small and beautiful hometown!

Big Difference Between Native and Second Language

Intermed 1 R/W
May 4, 2011

There are many different things between learning native language and second language.  I’d like to write about the things between Japanese and English. First, when I started to learn Japanese, I was surrounded by native speakers. Now I’m surrounded by native speaker. However, When I started to learn English in junior high, all people around me was all Japanese. The teacher was Japanese, too. Second, these languages have different word order. Usually, the word order in Japanese is Subject, Object, and Verb. In English, it is Subject, Verb, and Object. Third, these languages use very different characters. In Japanese, we use three types of characters that are called Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. There are many kinds of Kanji and it is impossible to memorize all Kanji. On the other hand, English use only 26 characters. It is easy to remember alphabet. Fourth thing is meaning of words. If I see a Kanji that I’ve never seen before, I can expect the meaning from the shape of character. But, in English, I can’t expect meaning. Finally, these languages have many difference, but there are not only difference but also they have some commons. In Japanese, many English words are taken in and are used as Japanese. We change alphabet to Katakana. Today many English words have gotten so popular. All in all, many Japanese people have trouble learning English. I think these differences are the reason of problems.

A Lot of Memory in the Small Room

Intermed 1 R/W
Apr 28, 2011

One of my favorite places is the room of music club. When I was in high school, I was one of the members in the music club. The club room was on the 4th floor. It was for our music club, but there were no special sound-proofing. We were playing kind of rock and it was noisy, so teachers often complained to us. The door and wall were made by wood, other walls and floor were made by concrete and these were painted white. There was no air-conditioner, so it was very hot in summer. In addition, because of concrete walls, it was too humid that we could see water drops on the ceiling. Also it was terribly cold in winter. It was not good circumstance, yet it was comfortable place for us. I think the size of room was about eight by fifteen meters. On the right side, there were a lot of classic guitars. On the left side, there were many scores, music stands, and some cheap chairs. I remembered that the room smelled of old wood, for there were well-used guitars. And I liked to sniff it. On the center of room, there were two medium size amplifiers and one big bass amplifier. Behind the amplifier, there were drums. We practiced every day and enjoyed music and talking in the room. I can still clearly recall those days. I wish I can return to there again.

The Advantages To Own a Small Car

Intermediate 1 R/W

Apr 20,2011

There are several advantages to own small car. First, you can park more easy than big car. For example, when you go to town and park somewhere, you can park easy even if it is a small parking lot. Also the risk of hitting the car will decrease. Next advantage is fuel. Of course, a small car uses less fuel than big car. It means, you can reduce exhaust gas that your car will eject. You are not only able to save your money but also save the environment. Third, you don't need much tax when you live in some countries. For example, the tax is decided according to the car's weight and engine displacement in Japan. Finally, a small car doesn't need much money to get maintenance. You need less expendable supplies than big car. For example, engine oil, ATF, and brake fluid are expendable supplies. Also tires and brakes will last longer than big car. In conclusion, I like a small car more than big car because it is easy to control and I don't need much money. Especially, Japan has a many narrow and winding road, so a small car has many advantages.

The Necessary Conditions To Be a Good Student.

Intermed  1 R/W
Apr 19,2011

There are many conditions to be a good student. I'd like to write my opinion.
First, don't be late for class. If you miss class, you have to take an extra class. You not only miss your time but also miss your teacher's time. Also you will miss the important time to share idea with your classmates.
Next,do your homework and study myself. Doing homework will help your understanding. Maybe you can find another questions that you couldn't find in class.Studying myself is important. For example, reading book, searching by Internet, etc. If you study myself and have a question, you should ask your teacher. It makes you more wise and teacher will be happy.
Third, cooperation with your classmates. When you have a difficult questions that you can't solve yourself, you could solve the questions if you cooperate with classmates each other. Also cooperation with friends will bring you another inspiration that you don't have. That will be good to improve skill each other.
At last, a teacher and a student must respect each other. If you have a bad attitude to class, your teacher will lose motivation. For example, sleeping in class, eating gum, using cell phone, etc. You will lose not only your important time, but also you will lose trust from teacher and classmates.
To be a good student will help your life after graduate school. Because these are usual things in the public. I think to be a good student is to be a good man, too.

My most unforgettable trip is traveling to Okinawa. We went to there at the company trip on February. Okinawa has warm temperature all of year, so it is good to trip on winter.
First, we met in front of our company. There are about 50 people. We got on the bus and went to the airport. The fright took about 3 hours. We arrived Naha airport. We planed to go to the Shuri-castle, so we got on the bus. The Shuri-castle was a great. It is famous about its beautiful sculptures. There were a lot of decorated interiors that was painted various colors. It was so beautiful. Okinawa is the isolated island, so they have different cultures and history other area of Japan. Feeling these things was so interesting for me. After that, we check in the hotel. My room had ocean view. The sea looked so beautiful, and breeze was feeling good.
In 2nd day, We went to the beach to kayak. We departed at the beach, and went to the cave that looked like Blue Grotto. We enjoyed diving and exploring inside of cave. The group of fish are very beautiful. Then, we tried to go back to the beach, but wind was getting strong, so it's very hard. On the way back to the beach, our kayak sank once. Finally, we arrived at the beach. We were exhausted. That was terrible, but that was also fun.At the night of 2nd day, we had the BBQ at the beach that is in front of the beach. We ate many kind of traditional Okinawa food, soki-soba, taco rice, mimiga, etc. Above all,soki-soba is the most favorite for me. The soup was made of pork, that was so delicious. After that, we went to karaoke. Everyone sang a song and drunk, I forgot what song we sang though.
In 3rd day, we went back to Chiba by airplane. Later, when I arrived at home, I was so tired, but this trip was really exciting, and will stay with us as a happy memory.

My Great Father

My father has influenced me the most. When I was a kid, he took me to many places.
He always played with me and took care of me in spite of he was so busy.
And he taught me many things.
He was a teacher of mathematics. He was the teacher of high school until I was 6 years old.
He had a lot of things to do in the house even in holidays, so he was often in his room in a long time.
But I didn't mind that , so I often coaxed father to take me to somewhere.
He always took me a lot of places without making a complaint.
He also took care each of my brother, sister, and mother.Even he took care of our neighbor very much.
Then, he changed his jobs to a teacher of cramming school. I think that was so hard because the school is so far from our house, so he had to leave early and he came home late everyday.
He worked so hard and for family and he was kind to everyone.
All of my family got his love so much.I can't describe well in words.
I think that each of my brother and sister feel same thing.
Most of my childhood memories are filled with the days spent with him.
These are the why I respect him the most.
